MISSION STATEMENT

We place our employees first, knowing that a highly trained, skilled and compensated workforce can better serve our customers, our families and our communities.

We build long-term relationships with our customers, becoming a trusted partner in their business; providing them with the safest and highest quality service ensuring success for us both.

We will continue to invest in our employees, in safety and in opportunities that will ensure the future growth and success of our company.

Employee Owned

The Tri-M Group LLC is pleased to announce its transition to 100% employee ownership through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). This new structure of ownership will further strengthen Tri-M’s commitment to its team members, its customers, and the communities in which we work and reside.

Tri-M has grown to nearly 500 employees since two brothers founded the company in 1964.  Leadership wanted a succession plan that would preserve Tri-M’s culture, retain its sustainability as an independent company, and carry-on Tom Musser's legacy.  An ESOP was the natural choice.

HISTORY

The Tri-M Group, LLC was founded in 1964 by two brothers, Tom & Dick Musser, it has grown from a very small local, industrial and commercial electrical contractor to one of the region’s largest merit shop contractors. Through the decades, Tri-M recognized the growing and changing services needed by our customers; therefore, Tri-M has a very diversified service offering.

In 2002, Tom Musser, Chairman and Jim Horn, CEO/President became joint owners in the Tri-M Group. Tri-M celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014 – a true milestone in the construction industry. From its inception, Tri-M has been dedicated to excellence in every aspect of our business, starting with the treatment of our employees and carried on through to our customers, vendors, and in the communities in which we work and live. To ensure Tri-M’s future, the ownership was expanded in 2016 by adding Executive Vice Presidents, Ron Bauguess and Chris Peirson as partners. While expanding our services; Tri-M has never lost sight of our founders’ drive to provide opportunities for employees and build long term relationships with our customers.

Our Founder

W. THOMAS MUSSER, FOUNDER (NOVEMBER 6, 1934 – JULY 9, 2016)

Tom Musser believed business has the responsibility to give back to the community, and he embodied that belief. He helped improve the lives of many Chester County families by supporting many charitable organizations, leading capital campaigns and serving on the board of many service and civic organizations. As a contributor to political organizations and grass roots campaigns, Tom was an advocate for small business and free enterprise.

After majoring in electrical engineering at the University of Florida and serving his country in the United States Navy, Tom returned to Pennsylvania and along with his brother, Dick, founded Tri-M Electrical Contractors.

Early on, Tom bought out his brother and set out to grow his business into one of the leading electrical and building automation contractors in the eastern U.S. After 34 years of expanding his company and achieving his goals, Tom sold Tri M to Encompass Services, Inc.  However, within a few years he took the lead in buying his creation back, and served as its Chairman.

Tom lived by the philosophy, “Always Be Thankful, Never Be Satisfied.”  He was thankful for his family, his country, his freedoms, his employees and customers. Tom’s vision, passion and entrepreneurial spirit motivated others to be their best and not be complacent, and forged the growth of Tri-M.

Tom was a true leader, and he led by example. He was a man of integrity, honesty and believed in the value of hard work. He made it a point to learn an employee’s name and family. He welcomed anyone into his office if they had a question or concern. He would work alongside of you, and there was not one job that he considered beneath him.

Tom held a number of executive positions with the Associated Builders and Contractors, including National Chairman. He was Chairman of the National Federation of Independent Businesses, Vice Chair of the U.S. Naval Institute and on the Department of Defense's Advisory Board for Employer Support of the National Guard and Reserve. Tom also served on the Chamber of Commerce and many other business and service organizations.
